萧云从

萧云从（馆方记录1596—1673）在一生中到访南京与扬州，观察富饶而多水的江南景象。CMA认为，其山水既来自自然与行旅，也受到他作为版画设计者的经验影响，并将他视为姑孰画派的开创者。

馆藏山水册中的景物随季节而变，题诗与钤印也参与画面组织。观看时不妨分辨上部题诗旁的作者印与边缘、下角的后世收藏印；它们属于作品流传过程中不同的声音，不能全当成作者留下的笔迹。

本厅以册页与长卷记录相互参照。细节、阔笔和青色晕染可以在同一位画家笔下并存，不必用一种固定风格概括其全部创作。

Throughout his lifetime, Xiao Yuncong visited Nanjing and Yangzhou, cities embedded in the fertile and water-rich Jiangnan region, as reflected in his paintings. Xiao painted from nature, and his landscapes are informed by the seasons and his travels, as well as by his experience as a print designer. Xiao’s fresh, light colors continue to appear in later Shanghai school paintings. This album was formerly in the collection of Li Yufen in Yangzhou and then owned by Wu Hufan in Shanghai. While the artist impressed his seal consistently below his poetic inscriptions in the upper parts of the composition, the red seals on the margins and in the lower corners of the paintings are impressions by the album’s previous owners.
